I’ve included three prompts for my school’s Resident Assistant Application, which is a very competitive scholarship/student job application. I am unable to finish these essays as I have so many exams to study for this upcoming week. I need three stellar and strong essays with good reasoning for these case-study essays where you rank the tasks or steps in a situation and provide logic/reasoning for how you would approach the situation. The Resident Assistant is a student who lives in the dormitory building and is a leader of the dorm floor they are on and is helping students with academics or any issues in the dorms or conflicts with roommates and building community within the hall. I need three 450-word essays that are stellar, and are down-to-earth and personal/genuine WITH NO PLAGIARISM!!! They need to not sound robotic and show a balance of my priorities as student. I’ve included a PDF of the past expectations of an RA for the summer semester, but please keep in mind that I’m doing this for fall and spring semesters NOT SUMMER.
HERE ARE THE QUESTIONS:
1) Congratulations, you have been selected to be an RA! Today is Wednesday and you’ve had a very busy week so far. You’re feeling stressed out because as you look ahead into the rest of your week and weekend, there’s still a lot you need to attend to. Below is your to-do list:
Please share how you are going to approach your to-do list. What order will you address these items in? Why? Will you delegate anything? If so, to who, and why? Please share your thought process and rationale.
*To-Do List:
– You have a 6-page paper due Friday at noon that you’ve completed 2 pages of
– Your Area Coordinator (your supervisor for the RA position) has asked you to check in with a specific resident “in the next day or two” but hasn’t given you any other information
– You have a group project and your group wants to meet before the end of the weekend to talk through initial pieces
– Your friends have a study session on Thursday at 8pm for a class you’re all in. There’s an exam next Friday.
– You promised another RA on your staff that you’d stop by to hang out during their office hours after your study session on Thursday night and bring food from the Tween
– Two of your residents, who are roommates, are having trouble living together because one likes to have guests over every weekend and the other doesn’t. This morning while you were leaving for class, one of them told you that they want you to mediate between them.
– You want to support your old roommate at the next basketball game Saturday night
– You just received a text from one of your residents who doesn’t often reach out that says “hey can you please call me asap”
2. Congratulations, you have been selected to be an RA! Below is a description of a scenario that you came upon while walking back to your room from the restroom on a Friday night.
Please share step-by-step, how you are going to approach this situation, and share your reasoning.
*Scenario:
Upon leaving the restroom on a Friday night around 10:30 pm, you are headed back to your room. You are not on duty tonight and don’t have any specific plans other than your friend telling you they are coming over to hang out soon. As you pass one of your residents’ rooms, you overhear a loud conversation happening. It sounds like two of your residents (roommates) are in their room on speakerphone with someone.
While you’re in the hallway, you overhear the individual on the phone saying “he’s really drunk guys”, and one of your residents replies “Okay just stay with him we’ll be right there” and they exit the room. As they are exiting the room, they see you walking down the hallway and immediately turn in the other direction and quickly walk away
3) Congratulations, you have been selected to be an RA! One of your residents texts you while you’re watching Netflix in your room. They tell you that they’re having a really bad week and need to talk to someone. Your resident tells you that they got a bad grade on their recent exam, they were not selected for a leadership position they applied for, and yesterday they had a mutual but difficult breakup with their partner of 1 year. They said everything is piling up and they are currently in their car and their heart is beating fast. Please share how you would approach this situation and include examples of how you’ve supported people in the past.
